Hello, I'm Emma
Project manager. Parent. An expat living in Berlin, Germany.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Relocating to Germany wasn’t in our master plan. Like many international moves, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far bigger.
The first months were challenging — adapting to new systems, routines, and expectations. Everyday chores felt heavier and more complex than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and a lot of learning on the fly. Yet gradually routines settled in. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Built Studio Echo Harbor
Most information online was either corporate relocation advice or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Germany.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Germany
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated when there is a real change
This site isn't:
- A tourism authority resource
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- Just a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Germany continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I will continue documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Berlin or anywhere in Germany, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Best regards,
Emma
